Chapters 26-44

1. Describe the exchange between the Conte and the kids. Do you think that the exchange with the kids went smoothly? Why do you think so? (There are 3 parts to this question.

2. The Isola Segreta isn't supposed to have any inhabitants, yet it looks/sounds as if there were people living on the island. What/who do you think lives on the island? Why do you think that?

3. What are the consequences of Scipio taking a ride on the merry-go-round? (i.e. how will things now be different for him?)

4. Do you think it was a good idea for Scipio to do this? Explain.

5. If you had the chance to change your age, would you? Why or Why not? What age would you want to be? (There are 3 parts to this question)

Chapter Questions 17-25

1. In chapter 19, the author talks about how Victor would like to “forget everything that’s happened since his 9th birthday.” What do you think happened to make him want to forget?

2. Name one thing Ricio found out about the inside of Ida Spavento’s home. Would her home be an easy or difficult place to rob? Why?

3. Victor has become the new "house guest" at The Stella. What do you think the orphans will do with Victor? What might happen if they let Victor go?

Chapter 1-16 Discussion Questions

1. Prosper, Bo, and their friends are all orphans. But why do they all choose to live on their own? What are the advantages of their lifestyle? What are its potential dangers? What other options do they have?

2. The author wrote on page 19, “Since they had begun to fend for themselves, Prosper had learned how to steal.” Do you think the kids were justified in stealing? Explain.

3. Is Victor really a good detective or is he lucky? How did you feel about Victor tricking Bo? Why?

4. What did the Conte leave in the basket for the Thief Lord? What do you think the purpose of leaving this strange gift is?

Welcome to our online book club. As part of your homework and classwork grade this reporting period, you will become an active member of our book club. You must read the assigned chapters of our novel each night and respond to the discussion questions I have posted. You will also create discussion questions of your own and create conversations with your classmates.
